The Spot-On series may be flush to the ceiling or a drop light by adding the twelve inch rod which is included. In addition this series comes with four finishing rings so you may customize it to your decor. Decorative ring finishes included: black, polished nickel, brushed nickel, gold.

This means that the wires can not be cut or altered.
